PSHA Town Hall: Understanding the New Codes
by Nicole Billak, Ed.D., CCC-SLP/LBS
and Joanne Wisely, MA CCC/SLP ACE FNAP

Abstract
With the upcoming transition from CPT code 92507 to a new set of speech-language pathology treatment codes effective January 1, 2027, clinicians are facing questions about code selection, documentation requirements, and appropriate billing practices.
This interactive town hall will provide speech-language pathologists with practical guidance for navigating the new codes and applying them to clinical practice. The session will begin with a discussion of clinical decision-making to support accurate code selection, followed by a brief review of National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs). Participants will then explore when to use each of the new codes, with an emphasis on clinical scenarios, documentation expectations, and strategies to support accurate and compliant billing.
The session will conclude with an opportunity for participants to ask questions, share concerns, and discuss practical challenges associated with implementing the new codes.
Learning Outcomes

- Use a structured decision process to identify and properly code clinical services
- Explain essential compliance to code descriptions, the Correct Coding Initiative and Medically Unlikely Edits
